We are so sad to see Vanessa graduate our baby program. We have had so much fun with her and her family! Let’s just say that mom rescheduled this appointment because hats weren’t in yet, haha. We love the enthusiasm and prep that takes place before Vanessa’s shoots. And then Vanessa laughs the sessions away or gives us a variety of sweet faces and melts our hearts. Every time.

Purple is their favorite colour, so naturally, the birthday balloons are purple. We hit two birds with one stone by doing Birthday and Christmas photos together, all of which had appropriate head pieces. Our absolute favorite moment was what we like to call Vanessa’s “cake coma”.

First year birthday shoots often include photos of the baby eating his/her birthday cake. They all react slightly differently. This reaction, however, caused all three adult ladies (mom, myself, Danuta) in the studio to almost pee our pants from laughing. Vanessa ate a bunch of the cake, and then lay down for what is similar to a thanksgiving dinner coma, except just from her own cake. So cute!

As Isaac was walking towards our door, I said “Hi Isaac! How are you?”, to which he responded “I’m very well, thanks”.

He is two and half years old.

This kid is incredible. He has knowledge way beyond his years and it’s great watching him interact with his mom. They are best buds. They talk. They read. They play outside. It’s amazing to watch this relationship. As if they have this lovely mutual respect for each other.

We are so happy Kirsti is capturing these moments while they last. While he still plays with his own hair when they read. While he still hugs mom endlessly. While mom can still hold his feet. While he says things like “guess what mama? I love you”.

It is always interesting working with boys, as you never really know what you’re going to get. Matthew and Michael have very different personalities and we tried to capture them while having a lot of fun during the session. One boy is a little more reserved and shy, the other more rambunctious and extroverted. We took just a few images outside before coming to the studio. As you can tell, the family dynamic and spirit really shines through in the family photos. This is them, through and through…

I was looking through our last year’s sessions and noticed one I loved but never shared. This little girl was a dream to photograph. So beautiful and with such a big smile!! It is with my greatest pleasure to show you some of her images from the late summer photography session.

Melissa has been a long time client of ours, but her husband hasn’t had his photo taken professionally since graduation. People tend to put off family photos. Years roll by, people change, and moments pass.

Our own family hadn’t had our family photo taken since the late 80s. My chubby cheeks made my eyes squint, my dad had a raging mustache, and my sis and I were wearing matching dresses. It was only in 2010 that we all agreed to take some photos for Mother’s Day. Now the memory of that day lives proudly in two areas of my parent’s house and Danuta couldn’t be happier.

Melissa’s memories will soon be up on her walls too. She will finally have beautiful photos of her family. And when their grandchildren look at old photos, they’ll see that Chris did in fact, exist

We respect our boudoir client’s wishes when they do not want to be shown on our blog. We understand that this kind of photography is private and sensitive in nature. So when we can show a little bit of a session, we are very grateful.

Miss J had her boudoir photos taken as a wedding present for her husband. He had no idea. One of our favorite parts about these sessions is hearing how sneaky women have to be to get away with taking bags or luggage full of clothes and shoes out of the house, and then coming home with their hair and makeup done differently than usual. The stories and excuses are hilarious. Day time appointments allow for women to go back home, unpack, and go back to their usual selves before a partner can suspect anything.

We would like to thank Miss J for allowing us to post, for being so sweet and kind, for getting such an amazing album, and for laughing with us all day long.

One of the first things you see when you come to our studio is a massive canvas print of a girl named Lily at 9 months. That felt like it was yesterday. Time flies. Lily is now two and a half and has a brand new sister, Quinn.

We would like to introduce baby Quinn, who was just shy of 2 weeks in these photos. Thus far, she behaves just as well as her big sister, and looks like her daddy.

We were really looking forward to this one. Not only did we get to see Addy for her 8 month shoot (we actually miss our baby plan babies and can’t wait to see them again) but this was going to be our first family portrait with their dog. When you think of family photos with babies and dogs, you don’t imagine it going smooth-like-butter. You expect a few hiccups. You imagine a baby crying, a dog running away or sniffing another dog’s bum. And it was about to start raining.

Then we met Molson. The greatest dog of all time. I swear I could have said “Ok Molson, what we need you to do here is move to the left about 2 inches, yup, excellent, and now chin up, great, and smile…perfect” and he would have complied. The family photos were a breeze, unrealistically quick, and we walked back to our cars just as it was starting to rain. We’ve been told how wonderful Molson has been with Addy since she was born, so it was great to see them together. Best Buds. Her protector. Her companion.

Doing their family photo against the wall was a reminder that the next session will complete their family’s first year progression. We can’t wait to put them all together and watch how Addy has grown and how Steve’s facial hair changed in one year

Favorite line of the day – “Don’t make fun of him, he pees like a girl”.

When we think about our dream pin-up appointment, we think of someone as excited as we are, someone who researches and shops for all appropriate clothing, shoes and accessories, someone who comes with ideas and then is open to try whatever we like, someone who appreciates the details in getting it right, and someone willing to have an afternoon of fun.

Meet Kelly. A dream. Kelly came so prepared that she even had two beach balls instead of one, just in case one popped. Now that, is “prepared”. We spent an afternoon going through some amazing pin-up ideas, listening to music, laughing and going through several outfits.

Editing down afterwards was nearly impossible. Kelly’s posing, facial expressions and outfits were perfection.

Vanessa is 8 months old! Being on our baby plan is not only great for parents, but we LOVE seeing our babies grow.

Vanessa’s mom is hilarious. She gets even more excited about the sessions than we do, and gets the cutest outfits ever!

Vanessa’s rolls are the chewiest, you just kind of want to knead her legs when you see her. I hope mom and dad are enjoying this chubby legs stage because when she starts to crawl and walk, those rolls will melt away. We are so glad the family will always have these photos to look back on and gush over.
